Get Initiative Screenwriting Contest Rules
Deadline has EXPIRED Thanks and good luck!!
All entries must include 2 cover pages and 2 summaries
Cover Pages
One "clean" cover page (just script title, no writers name or address) to reduce any possbile
bias from the readers. Please attach this one directly to the script.
One regular cover page with script title and writer's info (name, address, phone number, e-mail
address). This would also be a good place to state if you are underage or not. Simply put
(UNDERAGE) or (UNDER 18) under your name and info. While there isn't an age limit, the
Finalist list will be marketed to agents, managers and production companies. If a minor makes
it to the Finals, I would prefer a parental consent form on file before I send the script
anywhere.
Summaries
One 1-2 paragraph summary (or a "logline" if you have one). Don't cheese out on this, it's
important. Not only does it show you can reduce your idea down to a base level (good for
query letters), it's also going to be what represents your script to most of the agents. So put
your best foot forward, but don't go overboard, keep it as short as possible.
One 1-2 page summary (synopsis/treatment). Also important. You need to be able to tell a
slightly longer description of your idea. Consider this a "pitch". Sell me on the idea, tell me all
the major details or plot points/twists, but keep it down to 1-2 pages.
Both summaries weigh in on your total score.
Page Count
No page limit, but remember, readers get cranky after page 120. Page time/screen time is
about 1:1,....so each page represents one minute of the "movie". So the average script is from
90 to 120 pages.
Enter as many scripts as you want, but remember, it's $25 (US) for each entry. Entrants with
multiple entries may consolidate fees into one check or money order and put more than one
script in a package.
We will accept check or money order. Make payable to "Cameron Counts" or "Writing
Initiative".
Full prize list to be announced. See navbar on left side for links to "Prize" and "Scoring"
information.
